BYC Café

I had to take DH to the hospital today for his pre-admission testing for his surgery in 12 days. He was asked to provide photo ID. He has none because his driver's license was revoked in January and he has no passport. We were informed that he has to have photo ID for the day of surgery. So I got online to the NYSDMV and read that to get a non-driver photo ID we need to have his SS card, original or certified birth certificate and two forms of proof of residency in NYS like current year bill in his name or insurance policy in his name.
So when we got home from the hospital it was a full court press to find the documents. I was so stressed over this it wasn't funny. DH still ferrets things away even though I tell him daily not to do it. Once he puts something in a 'safe place', it disappears from existence because he'll not only forget where he stashed it but that he did it in the first place.
We still managed to find everything we need so we're heading straight to the DMV in the morning to get the ID. He'll get a temporary to hold him until the permanent document shows up in roughly 2 weeks. Whew!

Your stories, as always, interest me. They are giving me things to look for as my flock develops.
The only bird I allow to sleep in a nest box ATM is Draco and only because she's half naked. She gave up on that sleeping on the roost with the others nonsense after the one night she tried. I think she realizes it's just too cold for her right now.
All three of the white silkies are together in the nest box tonight, only one is broody.

Morning Cafe! We need a good hard freeze here not going to get it payed the bills went in for a blood draw hate the fasting thing but Morton has great lab same gal has drawn mine like 4 times now Doc will have results later today coffee was on the way home View attachment 1954649
You can have the one we are supposed to have tonight! I don't want it.

Very cool, Cap!

@N F C How was your birthday?

Anyone have big plans for the weekend? It's supposed to start snowing on Sunday, so going to try and get something accomplished tomorrow. Says it'll be 53°...hopefully that's with sunshine and without wind :p

A lot of you are as cold or colder than we are! Stay warm!
Thank you, I am figuring out what I want to quilt next.
I need to go buy feed this weekend, and get water warmers set up.

I do not look forward to the freeze but know we need it finally have to figure out if my water nipples got full of gunk there was water all over the wood floor of silkie coop got all the shavings scooped that where wet that was fun
Doesn't sound like it.

I will also say that sifting out frozen doody is a lot easier than squishy doody. Yet another positive of living where we have cold winters. :)

:barnieWhat a day! :he Sounds like tomorrow will be a long one too. :hugsBring a snack.

Maybe an inch. Not much. Flurries off and on all day. Not a one of the chickens ventured out of the run. I didn't have time to go out and bribe them. Once I do that a few times, they come out on their own.

I still like it.
I enjoy physical labor because it's good for me and far more productive than going to the gym.

It didn't for me. I managed to get the seedling heat mats installed in the nest box, the heater installed in the waterer inside the coop (but not before the vertical nipples froze... oops) and I put another bag of compressed pine shavings in the coop. I just left the block in there and the chickens had a fine time scratching it apart until they went to roost.
Is your area getting the big storm next week?

It is tomorrow and not next week!
