I'm having trouble getting a hot cuppa today. Between kids, birds & 2 senior dogs I keep sitting down to a cold cup. Just when I poured myself a cup I could finally drink the neighbors fire alarm started going off. Their house is in-between renters & I had to dig through their nasty trash to find the screaming alarm & pull the batteries out. Someone please send a thermos.

The coffee at my place goes into a thermal carafe after it is brewed!

This cold snap needs to go! At least the fish tank heaters I installed are working. But so many critters don't have those.

I read it as the house was filled with trash... maybe a hoarder house?

Just made myself scrambled eggs and sautéed spinach for lunch and also took these:

But there’s also turkey breast we just made if anybody wants a “real” lunch lol there’s gravy and cranberry sauce to go with it too. Although somebody will have to bring the mashed potatoes and green bean casserole because we don’t have any. We also have bread if anybody would rather have it as a sandwich. Plenty of mayonnaise, cheese and various other condiments. My personal fave is with a little cranberry sauce and mayo.

There’s also a lot of lettuce and dressings if anybody wants a salad. The spinach, of course, but also arugula and I think some spring mix. And we have glazed walnuts, feta cheese, dried cranberries, grapes, blueberries, bananas, apples, and cherry tomatoes too if anyone wants to get fancy with their salad lol

There’s also chicken breast and some peppers from my pepper plants (brought the plants inside before it got cold so these are fresh) if anybody would rather cook their own lol

Or put the pepper on the salad.

And of course there’s always the classic PB&J if anybody feels like being bad.

Grilled cheese and tomato soup too.

Or could always go with “breakfast for dinner” (lunch?) and make pancakes and/or French toast and/or omelettes or eggs however you want. The new girls are consistently putting out 2 eggs a day so we’re getting a lot of eggs lol

I know it’s a little late for lunch on the east coast and internationally but can be early dinner or for our west coast peeps, lunch is right on time.

And of course there’s still tons of those desserts and milkshakes left that I brought yesterday.

Morning! Breezy and warming up around here, low 40'sF. Thanks for the coffee and now I need to figure out what the plan is for the day. Have a wonderful one!

I think I may have problems with Mel's chicks. One of the chicks is male and one other female. I'm still not quite sure about the third.
They've spent most of the day separate, but safe, from the main tribe. They cone into eat and Treacle checks on them from time to time.
This evening at roost time the female was trying to go and roost in her maternity unit home. The other two hung around with her.
Essentially the chicks would form a new tribe under similar circumstances.
From what I've read about Jungle fowl this is 'natural' behavior as it is with many species.
For the last few hatchings, predation has meant that there were same sex couples or triplets and these tend to stay with the tribe up to an undefined level of maturity.
I can't cope with another tribe unless they lived in the trees and these days I want all, or none in coops at night.
The male chick is on the to be eaten list. That's a possible solution.
They did all go to the coop with some encouragement. What helped the most is Treacle came down the bank to look for them I assume and he more or less led them to the coop. I think they like Treacle, he is their elder brother.
There are no signs that the chicks are getting bullied. In fact the adults have been unusually tolerant.
Similar circumstances in the past have meant a new tribe tried to form.
I would love to be able to build another coop and explore this more.

Did I miss the memo that Thanksgiving dinner was going to be served early? Its making me very hungry.


That house is an empty rental. I can only guess that the rental company must've been here recently to clean up & replace the smoke detectors. It would've been nice if they'd taken the batteries out first.
