OFW, sounds like the kiddo is feeling better...here's to a total recovery!

The mushroom festival was pretty small but it was interesting to see some of the stuff demonstrated. We'd definitely like to try growing some but DH wants to go big scale and I want to start small to see how we do. I'm a bit (ok, a lot) more impulsive too and want to just jump in with the log & plugs...he wants to build stuff (rack and lean-to) and put in irrigation before starting to actually grow anything. Guess we have to agree on a plan first, lol.

The oyster mushrooms someone was growing in clear bags with mulch were intriguing. I'd love to try both the shitake and those.
go slow NFC.... I grew shiitake mushrooms a few times....they are somewhat difficult...oysters might be easier...we pick those here in June wild.....by the garbage bags full some years. I threw one out on my lawn last year and a bunch of oysters grew on my lawn...do I think they would be easier....and they are great eating.

Shiitake mushrooms....grown inside a tote

Yes would love to know

It's a kit from fungi perfect..(pinetree seeds has the same kit)
I just made a humidity shelter using a tote instead of the tent they send with the kit.
Better to start with a kit and try first just follow the instructions.
I would like to build my own mushroom cabinets with humidity controls but it's not high on my priorities.

Very cool Phil! I'm going to have to check that place out, thank you
