BYC Café

Good morning Cafe.
Coffee is made.
It's bright and sunny here currently. The weather forecast is for storms. Some rain would come in handy. The ground dries up here so quickly when the sun shines. It doesn't matter what time of year it is. It is only the first few inches that dry out, but those first few inches are what people tend to work.
After six months of bullshit and incompetence from the company that supplies the phone land line here, they finally fixed the fault. Six months of not having a phone in any remote area is taking the piss in my book. Mobile phones don't work particularly well here so essentially if anything goes wrong you're on your own.
This is pretty grim in the event of an accident but the real crime is in the event of a fire which can devastate acres in minutes, there is no way of notifying the fire brigade. My view is the phone company should be held criminally negligent in such cases.
On the bright side, my eldest phoned me and while we do communicate by email, hearing her voice gave a pleasant lift to the day.

I sure hope they do or if it isn't too inconvenient for you, they could come stay a couple of days each month and help out.
One of the three houses needing to be finished is mine. My spare room is stuffed to the ceiling with tools and building materials. Unless they are willing to bunk down in the coop, that's off the table.

Hmmmmmm.
I just had a very interesting conversation with a man who did some work for the neighbor at my dad's house. He texted me a while back saying he was interested in seeing my dad's house. He and his new wife are looking for a place in Apalachin. They are from the area and know many people here. The neighbor he did the work has been in dad's house since he died and told them how nice the kitchen came out (gee, thanks!). He wanted to come and see it. I do NOT like letting potential buyers in a house that is under construction. I see great progress and can see where it's going. THEY see a big mess and run for the hills.
What makes this guy different is he works construction. I told him to feel free to walk around the property but I still denied him access and let it drop.
He texted me this morning stating he is still very interested in the house. He wants to buy it ASAP and is willing to do a lot of the finish work. What made me call him back was when he wrote that this would be his forever house and they want to raise their family there. THAT is what I saw for this house. It's huge and perfect for a new family.
He is going to discuss a good time to come see it with his wife. We are thinking next Wednesday works for everyone.
I know the house when finished will be worth about $210K. I will be putting at least $5000 more into it to fix some structural issues but he will finish it after that. I have the majority of the finish materials already on site. So I'll have to figure out what a fair price would be... IF they like it.
What a HUGE weight off my shoulders that would be if they bought it. :fl
