Took Miss Maggie Mae to a barbecue at our daughter's home yesterday. Grandkids and their significant others, neighbors, SIL's stepdad and 4 other dogs were there. For the first half hour Maggie was near berserk and I kept her on a flexi. When she settled down she became the life of the party and was universally loved - except when she decided the Corn Hole game was a game of fetch. When we got home she collapsed in exhaustion. Finally a peaceful evening.

Not that we really do like spending time with everyone, but the noise and energy level is hard on the dogs, Lololo and me and the constant movement. It takes Ziva quite a while the tier out and go laydown. Tony, boy he is a good mellow dog not as high drive as Ziva.

I love the family but I really like my quite Hahahaha

We went camping one time after we moved out here. The campground seemed really noisy, and there weren't any parties, and really, not that many people.

I like, no radio, no tv, the clock ticking is annoying! Why they cant make a silent wall clock with a second hand???? A silent refrigerator, non buzzing light bulbs,

He did fine with the flock and they with him.
My kitchen didn't fare as well. Holy crud can a 19 year old boy make one hell of a mess!!

We have a couple grandfather clocks, so I like the tick-tock and chiming. Maybe because they run on gravity? (Unlimited and free.)

to that, my son is 36, and every since he cook cook, and still is this way, its food everywhere- my daughter in-law loves that he likes to cook BK for the kids but the mess he leaves behind Lololololo

I have an old Thomas mantel clock thats 140yr old, I think the old clocks have a less "ting" to their tick-tock, a more mellow sound,

Some really good "chicken minds" on this thread, so I have a question to toss out.

I'm getting chicks on Saturday. This time, I'm using a heat plate instead of a heat lamp, and the brooder will be in the mudroom. It will be near a south facing window. I've read that I need to leave a light on so that chicks can eat and drink as they need to, 24 hours a day, for a least the first few days.

My plan is: The first week, I'll have the light in the room on, 24/7. Then have a reading lamp on at night for 4 nights, and then just a night light for 3 nights. At two weeks old, just have natural daylight as it comes in the window.

How does that sound? Is full light 24/7 for a week too long/short?

I've never done 24/7 light.
I do put a heat lamp(60W reptile light) over the feed station for the first couple of days,
to make sure they are eating/drinking/pooping/moving around OK.
