I've lost one of Astrid's pullets.

I was short one on head count. I found her dead in the far corner of the pen with her left thigh eaten cleanly to the bone. Looks like a hawk kill.
They'll be locked up for the next week.

Sorry about loss.

DS$ went to Homecoming and got home late so I am letting him sleep a bit but then it is "Help the older couple next door to get ready for Winter Too" day for him.

It's raining here and I'm still bummed about that poor little pullet. I wonder if she was my cute little noisy girl. Probably.
I'm going roust DH and go get more landscape plants and some Gigi's for breakfast/brunch to try to improve my mood.

Had some nice rain showers this morning, maybe more later.
Powering thru the back pain to get stuff done(dishes and food prep),
loosens up some with activity.
Am exhausted but feel a bit better with a decent meal in me.

Lots of feathers on the poop boards the last 2 mornings, some raggedy looking birds but no naked pin cushions.

Morning cafe up at 8 our time dry here all of sudden doesn't take much ..
Moved all the banty to banty coop out of the spare room.
Opened the coops including it everyone alive and well.

Same here. One girl looks like a cross between a naked neck and porcupine, and everyone has "dandruff."

It's raining here too. By the end of the week, we could get between 1.5-3" of rain. It's been dry, so we need it.

I got up early so maybe get a few things done today.

My latest haul from the garden center that is selling off his excess plants. Because of supply issues, he had to order much larger quantities of plants than normal. The company used to do retail sales and landscape services when they were in Binghamton but switched to just landscape services when they moved to Endicott.
He sells in the fall not too far above what he paid just so he doesn't take a loss on the plants.
This trailer load has:
5 coral bells, three different varieties
2 green velvet boxwoods
1 Nick's compacta Chinese juniper
2 dwarf bush honeysuckles (natives that will do great here)
2 Hanoke perennial grasses
1 Deadnettle
1 Little bunny dwarf fountain grass
1 chokeberry
and my favorite that will go into the ornamental pond when I build it next year, a Diana Weeping Japanese larch.
All this for less than $280 total.
