Had it rip rap before? The amount of rip rap that would be required to fill the moat in would be astronomical.
No.Had it rip rap before?
How long sine it was last dug/cleared?No.
It was left open and filled in with silt over the years.
It is the hours of daylight and not vitamin D level. You can give them supplemental light in the winter to make them lay eggs but that is not usually necessary for first year pullets. Not squatting really, but they come running and talk and hang around me, looking for guidance and company in the coop and nesting boxes.
As soon as I start to clean the poop boards, they come to sit in the nest boxes and talk to me.
With the noticeable shortening of daylight and the nasty grey weather and all the rain, they might need a vitamin D boost to get started.
I don't know... On either account. How long sine it was last dug/cleared?
Rip rap would start to fill it sooner, right?
Filling a trench with anything takes up volume.I don't know... On either account.
Looks like she sank in pretty deep! Glad you got it out. This is where it was stuck.
I'm sure it took quite a few years unless it was really shallow. I can see why you would want it cleaned out, you are ground zero for water coming from that pond.It was left open and filled in with silt over the years.
