FIVE eggs today! That hasn't happened in months! Every hen laid!

Didn't get the forecast thunderstorms.
Too bad, was looking forward to it<shrugs>

Let the broody out and closed the nests.
Hoping she doesn't go back tomorrow.

Just had a hawk strike in the backyard, about 30' away from my window wall.
It musta missed but perched for a minute on downed tree nearby, then flew off.
Was cool to see and I bet caused the ruckus I heard the last 2 evenings.

How is my favourite little Skittles?

He's hanging in there. Bella just barely brushed him when she ran by him right after I stopped recording and knocked him down. He got right back up but his back legs are weak and he isn't very stable any longer. He continues to drink excessively and vomit occasionally but he still seems to enjoy the hikes. He's just much slower.

Yes. He's been on heart medication for about 5 years. His congestive heart failure has been relatively well controlled with the medications but it's taking a toll on his kidneys. His blood work started showing kidney stress 2 years ago. A little worse on last years blood work. I think it will be worse yet when I take him in this year. His back legs started to weaken a little over a year ago with obvious issues in his hips, he's half blind and mostly deaf. I am carefully monitoring his quality of life.

It certainly is. But he's definitely not suffering.

Good morning Cafe. Coffee is ready.

My nephew-in-law? (my nieces husband) is coming over today to help do the counter cut. I need someone to hold a water mist over the cut site with the hose then help place it and the last one. We got the first in last night. Minor damage to the drywall that is easily repaired. I hope to start tiling the backsplash today.

The decline is heartbreaking to watch as I know only too well.

But I am glad he is still with us and under the best and loving care.
