Roll away nest box.At least they give you something during the year, I have an egg eater that has her own stall/coop. I've gotten 1 egg from her because I happened to be there when she laid it. She gets room and board and gives nothing in return.
I have one hen who is still laying, but only about every other day. 4 eggs a week. One of the pullets looks like she could lay any day now. Her wattles and comb are red, she's peeked into the nest box, but I haven't seen her there yet. And there aren't any eggs in out of the way places. I've been looking...I used to say "good night girls, thanks for the eggs" as I left the coop shed.
Now I say "good night girls, thanks for nothing"
Already?!? Are you using supplemental lighting?Birds that have molted are coming back to lay finally.
I had one, until about a week or so ago when she went broody. SMH.I have one hen who is still laying, but only about every other day.
My serial broody was done in August. She usually gets back to work in under a week. Still waiting, Miss Widget! And you're not really even molting like the other hens!I had one, until about a week or so ago when she went broody.
I have two of them. One hen learned to go underneath it an peck an egg from the bottom. Hens need a wire partition to keep them from going underneath the roll out nest boxes. That's my solution anyway.Roll away nest box.
