BYC Café

Good morning Cafè. Coffee is ready.

It's nice and cool now. I'm going to try to run the dogs in a bit. My leg seems to be getting slowly worse by the day but I have greatly reduced my pain meds. I can't just stop gabapentin cold turkey. I'm taking less than half what I had taken to manage it. Hopefully the surgery will be approved and I'll only have to push through a little over a week.

HTG has to bring me my firewood one face cord at a time. I ordered two cords. Goody for me! That means six opportunities to gawk at him! Nothing like a little distraction from my troubles.

Good morning and thanks for the coffee! My keyboard seems sticky this am.... DH and chip crumbs! Fixed...
We got some decent rain and I hope for more today. I am heading over to finish up 3 more trees and that area will be tidied up from the blowdowns and just standing dead. This is the woman and toddler that I was scrambling wood for last winter.
She is doing the clean-up and gathering. Plus, I had asked her neighbor if I could cut the dead and blowdowns for her to take and he said, "Yes, please!"
Anyway, enjoy the weekend! Time to get moving.

You're fabulous! That's so nice of you to be helping her and him at the same time. Boy I sure do wish you lived a little closer to me ;-)!

If you zoom in, you can see all the buildings and utility poles in the old field day grounds that I run my dogs in.
There's a group of trees there to the right.

This building is where they used to serve chicken dinners.
I took the aluminum roofing panels off the back and left side. I'm going to be rebuilding my garden beds with them.

This is an aerial view of the lower fields I run the dogs in.

The tiny red star on Wayside Ln is where I park. The group of trees circled is now gone.
All the buildings with a red X on them are gone.
The building with the green star on it is the one I salvaged roofing panels from. It is now gone.
The blue dots are where utility poles were. They are now gone along with three more that were further up in the field.
The big dead ash tree is gone.
The purple X's are were the baseball backstop and benches used to be. The bench I used to sit on because I couldn't go any further.

This is what it looked like when we got there this morning.

I swear the dogs looked just as shocked as I was.

Still fairly cool, but humidity seems to be rising.

Seeing evidence that mouses are active, have caught a few in the last couple weeks. Decided to rebait all the traps, good thing as some of them were kind of funky. I just use little chunks of plain peanuts crammed into the trigger, much cleaner than peanut butter.
So that's done, will see how many corpses greet me in the morning.
