BYC Café

Rain and 60-some here, and that's pretty much what it's supposed to do all day. *sigh* I guess I knew better than to think the flood waters were going to abate soon - forecast is for a couple of inches. Normally the fair would have closed at 11:00 pm, but due to the inclement weather, they shut down at 6:30 last night (about the time the rain stopped for a few hours

) This morning, I splashed over and joined the parade of owners collecting our animals - and a soggy, sorry sight we all were, to be sure. I'm not sure if we've ever had a wetter fair; there were a few days when they didn't bother to open due to the weather. I think they at least broke even. Once again, a river ran through the Livestock tent; Syd vaulted over it as I walked her out.

Hey, at least the temps were mild this year. Wet and cold is horrible, and you simply can't get enough air through that tent when it's really hot. I've seen it so windy, it moved some of the tent poles; we have even had to shut down due to a late-season hurricane a couple of times. Never the same two years running - one of our "regulars" has started keeping a scrapbook.

A scrapbook? That's an awesome idea! You can always look back and be thankful this year's fair wasn't as bad as xxxx.
