Sounds like the best kind of life.

Sometimes we want to pinch ourselves, like we're so lucky! Sometimes we want to kick ourselves when the work is so intense!

Alrighty, I just want to give a shout out and pat on the back to all you that live with extreme weather. We've had a whole week of 20 degree weather and I'm having to do the chickens water 4 times per day because of freezing! So thankful it's not like this all the time!! I can't even imagine doing it at -10 or -20!!! And I feel so bad for my chickens! Here's a picture from today. It's so cold that the snow is "blooming" and making ice crystals.

yeah that real cold stuff is not a lot of fun that's for sure. But I chose to live here. But that's because few people do and I love the wilderness. Good luck with the water....I have heated watering stations so they don't freeze other wise of be hauling water non stop.

Yeah, the water hauling is no fun at all. If we experienced more of this I'd be running out to get the heated water thingy right away! Our temps are headed back in to the low 40's by Monday thankfully!

We have water in the barn, it is low enough, it hasn't froze up yet. And a heated chicken waterer, just in case. My biggest problem isn't the chickens, it is the cats and dog. I might go buy a heated dog dish....we will see.
I love it. Yeah sometimes the weather sucks, but I love being all alone with only a handful of people around me for miles and miles.

Isn't it funny we all love to be away from humans (except in my case when I have to cook for them) but we love to be surrounded by animals.

Birds of a feather, perhaps?
I have been surprised by the number of users here that think similarly to me. So, does raising farm animals change a person? Or do people of similar mindsets choose to raise farm animals?

animals are much less opinionated and easier to get along with that most people.

Or a bit of both? I was raised/grew up on a dairy that also had a few hundred layers for 'egg' money.

Ain't it the truth! I've always loved animals and always loved being alone. I thought it was because I was an only child.
