Heck, isn't Florida where all of the northern retirees go?

Maybe 29° to some of those homes is balmy.

You have a good point!
Most of the snowbirds would think that it was a nice early spring day.

I know cold is a relative term, but come on.........

Florida should be balmy in the 70's all year long.......
Fer sure, how can they uphold the reputation as the lightning capital of the US with weather like that?!

24 brrgrees here this morning. I'm coffeeing up for the start of day 2 of schlepping water to the critters. It doesn't stay cold enough long enough to justify the expense of most freeze-resistant water systems here, so I have to go through this dance for a few days every year. The minis are acting like sensible animals; they have broken the ice on their water tank when they wanted a drink (I think it's a game for them, frankly), but the "bigs" are being real prima donnas. I'm having to carry buckets of warm water to their stalls for them. I can't much blame them for not wanting to venture out of the barn - the frozen mud is like a cooled lava field out there - but though I might lead a horse to the water trough, if it's too cold, I can't get her to drink . . . .

For the biggens water tanks I did pay for 250 watt tank heaters

Also for the cut off 55 gal barrels we use for other waters I just use 100 watt Submersible Aquarium Heaters
from wally world at about 20 bucks a pop, works for us and not too pricey.
I only put them in when it's forecast to be in the low 20's and near freezing daytime. We do have a few horses who think they make good chew toys.
