I got my little pen built yesterday. My son called it a tractor, don't know if that's right or not. Took about 4 hours. The hens were in heaven to be out in the yard. Made me feel good to see them out of the coop. 3'w×8'l×2'h. Didn't cost a dime, which is the way I like to do things!

I bet they are really happy to be out and about. Put them under a tree or place something over it for shade. It is really hot right now and my chicks are spending a lot of time in the shade. I'm thinking about making something like this for a couple of my young chicks.

We only put them in in the evening time, once the woods start casting a large shadow into the yard. They had two hours out there. I think they can't wait for this evening!

Glad to see they are enjoying their outside time!

Perhaps you could attach some sort of run to their coop so they could go outside at will? Even a small one I'm sure they'd enjoy. Or can you free range there? I've been letting mine out in the evening for a few hours.
