So anyway, good morning! I thought that headline was pretty funny.

Lol, around here the official bodies always try to deny that cougars are around; until there's undeniable proof I guess. Where I've just moved to I'm not sure if there's any, I wouldn't be shocked if there was; we're right on the edge of the shield. Deer we have, though the coyotes seem to be in a population boom at the moment.

I've always preferred large scary animals to small poisons ones. I just feel like the big ones tend to be easier to avoid...and are more likely to avoid you

On a related note, there was one lonely coyote howling in our field in the middle of the night. For quite some time...I wonder what was up.

@Mtn Margie I think maybe your coyote is howling for a mate. If there are too many males in the lion population the senior one chases off some of the younger males after a big fight - so he could be lonely - not sure how it works with coyote's though.

@Treerooted Thanks have to get another test in four weeks but they think I will be ok - tried the champers and was so sick guess alcohol and meds don't mix. Great Pity lol

Missed a gorgeous day I am told (sleeping of course) set a record for 67 degrees - low(so far) was 27. Going up 40 degrees in a winter day is just totally weird. One of the weather ladies said the problem with early warm-ups is greater chances of tornadoes.

@drumstick diva - actually I was reading a post of yours as one of my bigger chicks is being pecked and you recommended something to put on the neck. I can't for the life of me find the post again as I read so many it begin with an E - sorry so helpful. I am not sure if she is sick and they are doing it because of that, she does seem a bit listless. I know this is not the right thread but if you could let me know I will try and get something similar - she is stupid chicken's chick raised by another hen.

Mmm are you sure it started with an E. Do you mean to help heal it or keep others from pecking it more? For healing I would suggest Neosporin oint.(No CAIN), for wounds that would attract more pecking (like reddened area or bloody) BLUE KOTE (is blue) and covers that up well.

For the bad birds that are pecking her, you could get "Pinless peepers," it keeps the bird from seeing straight ahead so their aim is off. It always probably annoys them enough to make them forget about bothering her.You can put "pinless peepers," in the search box to see what they are like. I can't remember what I said or when. Do you have more hints for me?

To cover a wound /let feathers grow back a hen saddle/apron might work. A chick being bullied may be listless because the others will keep them away from food/water. So you need to put out more water and food dishes- scattered around.
