BYC Café

Maybe I'm abit old school here. But how do you call a well built small house looking building with an upstairs room with window, that has a bigger central air cooling unit then I have on my whole house, a cabin? :th
Scott (who wants that kinda cabin on the river)

Well, it is made of logs, no attic, dirt basement, only 2 closets. There is just a loft upstairs, not a whole floor. And it came with the ac unit. But no bathtub, dishwasher, washing machine or dryer. It did, however have a bee hive in the wall!

Good morning cafe!

Margie, we got rain yesterday too...a LOT of rain, mixed with ice pellets. Maybe an early harbinger of winter?

Hope you all have a great day :)

Oops, almost forgot to bring the coffee

The last time we got ice with a lot of rain, it 'harbinged' something quite different - a tornado! (In a neighborhood about half a mile away, and fortunately a very weak one) Unless it causes a flood, rain in your neck of the woods is always a good idea, right?

@CapricornFarm I think your cabin is charming! When Critter and i bought this place, it was just raw acreage; we explored a lot of options as to what kind of house to put on it. One that we considered was a log cabin; there are companies that sell kits that you can put together yourself or they will assemble for you (for a price, of course!). Critter was thinking he and I could work on it during the slower days of winter . . . . But then we learned that I was pregnant, and that option went off the table (whew!)

Oh gosh, building a chicken coop is enough for me. Husband likes quality accommodation, roughing it while building would not go over well with him.
My chicks have arrived! All alive and accounted for! Got the call around 6:30, drove right out. Three cheers for usps! 12 Speckled Sussex and 12 Polish !:celebrate:love:wee:ya

Good morning! I bet the little bears will be more problematic than the bigger ones, Cap.
My fence has 5 wires and we get deep snow so I have to change up the grounding system in the winter. I would wire the place for all of your little nasties and then put a couple at bear height. Bobcats can go through a fence that is spaced for bears because they have a thick insulating coat. Be sure to space it off of your pens by a few feet and the double fence lines will add some confusion too.
Coffee! DS$ goes to school to help out with the new 6th graders today and he starts for real tomorrow.

We already had geese on the lake....
