Oh I'm jealous! I've got an inflatable kayak that I've been dying to use. Definitely no time. I still haven't even begun to cut wood for winter!

Husband has a lot of work to do cutting wood, but the river is why we chose this home. First time on the water since we moved here in June. Only took an hour or so.

Once you get really settled in, I can imagine there will be a good deal of time spent on or around the river.

Husband wants to go daily. I don't know if i am up for that. But i will go sometimes. Pretty shallow right now.

The temperature has been about 80 degrees the last few days and from what I understand will be for another day or two. Ain't this August in Texas?

So true. August in Texas should be in the 90s.

Working on my 2nd pot of coffee.
Nice and sunny here in Alberta. We had so much rain earlier this year that things are finally drying out.
Gonna go work on the coop in a bit.

Question. In the winter months will chickens eat hay? I've got lots as well as sweet grass.

I agree with the other answers. I would only add that if the hay has lots of seed heads, they like finding those.

I prefer tossing a little pile of hay where it will not get covered in poo...and then tossing sunflower seeds in it. The chickens will them spend lots of time digging through the hay for the seeds.

Hay is horrid for poo.... the poo sits on top in a sheet of nasty. So I never use it for bedding. Except in clean nest boxes. ..or for entertainment like I described above.

The paw paws are falling off the trees right now. So many trees you could never count them. Even paw paws floating in the river!

I just read about it, it seems like a yummy fruit!
I have a cosine of it the Anona tree, wonderful fruit!

Can you preserve some of it to future use?
