@ronott1 what's this about a campus turkey?
UC Davis has at least one flock of wild turkeys that roam the campus. I saw one of them last week at the Arboretum. Last Fall one of the tom's wanted to check out the English Dept.

I did not think it was a good idea since the Undergraduate counselor is terrified of Turkeys so I had a talk with him

I figured he may do better with the ESL program(English as a second Language) and walked him over that way...

He was very friendly so it amazes me that so many were scared of him!

Wow that is awesome Ron!
Davis and Woodland have flocks of wild Turkeys now. I love seeing them! They have moved in from the hills between Fairfield and the East Bay--Oakland hills and etc.

They do not hurt anything but some have a phobia about them. While I saw the Tom in the pictures as very friendly, others saw him as "aggressive" The Undergraduate counselor in my Unit will wait in her car in the morning and call for someone to walk her into the building if she sees a Turkey, even a hen...It is a silly phobia! That is a very small tom.

ESL was definitely the right place for him Ron :lol:

Some people are afraid of chickens so I can see how some may be worried about a bird as large as the turkeys. I've even met a couple of people that are scared to death of wild birds and they're mostly pretty small. Seems silly to me but then I'm a life long bird-lover.

Great photos, thanks for sharing them!

Good evening all.
Coop and girls are all dusted ☺. As soon as we picked up one of them out popped a yolk. Oops. I've never noticed them taking a dust bath before but right after they got the powder they went out and started rolling in the dirt. Of course they rolled everywhere except in the wood ash. Silly girls.

I hope that everyone is enjoying their long weekend.

Wow, I can't imagine being that afraid of birds! I too love birds and wildlife.

I don't even think I'd be afraid of a mountain lion or bear if I saw one. I'd be like WOW! Well, maybe from a safe distance and not if it jumped out LOL
