That's almost like we have now! The temperature dropped fast today, it started raining and then the white stuff showed up. Mostly it's on the foothills around us now that the rain has stopped.

Two months earlier than last years first snow...yikes!
I think we will need a lot of firewood this year.

I think we will need a lot of firewood this year.

Do you have a fireplace or wood-burning stove? Love to have one of either but all we have is regular baseboard heating and a big electric heater for the porch. No need for firewood here. Darn it...I love the smell and sounds of a wood fire!

Sour , glad to hear you are back. I'm not even going to ask you where you went, if you had a good time, and if Princess & you are still speaking OR smiling alot.

None of my business. Maybe someone else will ask and I can listen in.

In Canada it can take years to get in to see a specialist. People wait a year or more for joint replacement even when they have bone on bone! It could be worse here.
Personally, I have never had to wait longer than a month to see a specialist. Most people I know requiring joint replacement have gone about 6 months from initial visit to surgery. Where I live has one of the most progressive hip replacement procedures available (Edmonton AB). Even people I know requiring knee replacement in Toronto, where the population is huge compared to here, haven't had to wait as long as you've heard. When I lived in the States I heard the same stories and thought that the healthcare had really changed. I haven't seen it since I've returned. Healthcare is run by each individual province, so it could be true for some of them. I can only speak for what I've encountered in Ontario and Alberta.

Yes, we had one in TN and saved a lot of money heating with it. I usually wake up at least once a night so i would pile on the wood. Husband gets up early, so he would stoke it up. There was one already here when we moved in, it is in the great room. It is not as big as the other one we had. I love wood fires! Grew up with a fireplace. I bring in bins of small twigs for kindling and he fells, cuts, and splits wood. Though he has a bad back, he actually enjoys cutting wood.

Yeah, i am talking about my in laws in NS and my sister-in-law, who has an unususl heart condition. The cardiologists she have seen don't know what to do, so they do nothing. She needs a pacemaker and a difibrillator but she can't have both so they do neither. Her heart races. It stops. She passes out. Still nothing done. Apparently younger people get preference because older people have to wait longer for procedures, if they are accepted at all. Once you reach a certain age, nothing seems to get done regardless of need.
