Luckily the ground isn't frozen yet. I believe the frost line is about a foot deep or more here normally.

I used to make sure when i was done with the hose it was drained downhill so all the water ran out. We had lots of hills in TN.

I used to fill those jugs that kitty litter comes in and haul those from the house to all 20 +coops! Got hot water from the tap in the kitchen.

Yeah. We haul in 5 gallon containers. We don't have a well on our property. So it's lots of hauling regardless. We've got a 200 gallon portable tank but it's not insulated. We're scrambling trying to figure out what to do.

I hope I stole lots and lots! I would love to spend less money on feed.

wouldnt it pay to just get a gas boiler installed and melt ice or snow outside the coop ??? I kinda lazy that way ...always thinking of doing less work
