@KDOGG331 So what's your new coop plan? I've been out measuring areas lately for mine, even though it will be springtime before anything gets built

My Black Australorp seems fine...but she just sort of blends in and doesn't really have anything distinctive about her...being all black probably doesn't help lol. Of all my breeds it's the Speckled Sussex that have stood out. Very inquisitive, and I think if I tried to "tame" them, it wouldn't be too hard.

I've got a larger flock that are pastured so I'm looking for more savvy birds...without being too flighty. Since I have a toddler (and maybe more one day) I do want friendly birds... but they need to be able to fend for themselves

Well, we have it almost done

It's 4x8 but on a 6x8 base. Half the 2x8 is the nest boxes and the other half is kind of nothing right now.

Then we are just moving their run over but we might buy more fence panels

We actually found a plan on here for pretty cheap but we added/changed a lot so it's not really cheap or the same anymore lol I could try to find it for you though if you want

We just did a basic 4x8 coop and it has a roof.

But for example, we obviously made the base bigger and also used pressure treated 2x6s for the frame and the original called for OSB but that falls apart so we used PT plywood for the floor, I forget exactly what thickness but just standard probably. We also added linoleum sheet over it, just leftover roll from Lowe's ha. And the walls and roof we just used plywood sheathing instead of OSB. It's still pretty thin so needs some sort of covering. You could use regular plywood or T1-11 too. We found cement board siding for cheap on Craigslist for a lot of it so we bought and used that and shingles the roof.

Oh and we added 2 little windows and 2 gable vents

And we only have 8 chickens so I probably notice mine more i might start free ranging them more though. The Orpingtons sometimes get distracted foraging and don't notice when the others ditch them lol

And well, they're not too too flightly! Actually my other one isn't really even that flighty at all and is higher on the pecking order. This one is just sort of a chicken (for lack of better word lol) and spooks when they confront her or she'll just fly across the yard or startle and spooks everyone else lol but she doesn't do it too often and she mostly seems very aware. And she also seem every curious and interested in me. Like if I spent time with her she might become friendly. And I have heard a lot of stories about how their Easter Eggers are very calm, friendly, loveable/huggable, and just not really flighty. So I think it does depend on the individual bird and/or where you get them from. I highly recommend the Easter Eggers

Plus they have cool colored eggs!! And I just haven't spent that much time with mine. I'm sure if you spent more time with them, they would be very friendly

And I've been wanting to try Speckled Sussex! Those and Wyandottes, Welsummers, possibly Cochin or Brahma, and Delaware lol and of course every color Orpington and Kurt's Australorps.

I kind of wish we had built the coop bigger so I could add more chickens LOL

Very true! Somewhere between age 40 and 50 we start losing muscle mass. Less lean muscle makes it harder to lose weight.

One thing that the fitness bands are showing is that Americans are extremely sedentary too. Way worse than was thought because the old information on how much we moved was based on self reporting and apparently people lie about that- maybe on intentionally but still they lie

I think it's all the Netflix people have been doing lol
