Our last morning on Cudjoe and we're packing up and heading to Key West for a few days. Thanks for the coffee Debby, I'll need it.

great view! WARM :wee

Good morning, Café. Friday, don't buy any brownies from the lady at Mallory Square. :p

why?

Hey Friday, while you're down in KW, if you get a chance, snap a photo of a little shop at 407 Greene St...that's where DH & I used to have our store and I'd love to see what it looks like now! Last I knew it was turned into a shoe store (Kai's).

Wish I was there!

What kind of store did you have?

Tea, spices and organic coffee plus nautical & brass stuff. Loved that store. We kept it going for 3 years but the cost of doing business was too crazy high (plus working 7 days a week for a total of about 100 hours per week).

When I first moved to KW, I rented a little 1 bedroom apartment. The other day I got curious to see what the same place rented for now. In 7 years it went from the $1250 per month I paid to $1900 per month...no utilities included. That's why locals work so much, often having 2-3 jobs at one time. Crazy. But I loved living there, it was beautiful!

Prices are crazy here. We were looking a a little bungalow in the historic district for a million five.(And it needs work.)

We are staying on the other end of Duval street near the southernmost point. Hope to get a shot of your old store this afternoon, Debby. :)

Oh, and good morning everyone.

Oh, and good morning everyone.

AWESOME Friday! We were located between Duval & Whitehead, kind of across the street from the Key Lime store and the Audubon House.

At one time DH & I rented a little house in the 300 block of Catherine St within about 3-4 blocks from the SMP marker. We had visions of taking early morning walks down there to have our morning coffee. That vision quickly passed once we realized there would be no peace from the early morning sightseers. People kept interrupting us to ask us to take their pictures, lol.

As much as I loved living in KW, it finally became discouraging to figure out that there was no way I'd ever be able to afford to buy a place to live. Fixer uppers started at 1/2 a million and even if you had that sort of money, the insurance would often cost more than the house payment.

Oh well, dreams change and life goes on.
