It's leveled off, about a 5 now...it's not the surgery or broken bones that are giving me the pain. It's the tendons on the sides of my knee and under the knee cap that are causing the pain, and my lower leg injury from 9 years ago, is also having the same thing happening to it. From what the therapist told me, it's due to the muscles that had all the trauma inflected on them before and during the surgery...it's made the cartilage spongy, so instead of being smooth and hard, it's acting kinda like velcro and catches on the bone. Weird, huh! Supposedly the PT will help strengthen the ligaments and they 'should' start hardening up again. Time will tell. Some days the pain is worse, other times it's not.
So sorry you are still suffering. My pain will not go away either. I have my follow up Ortho appointmnent in a couple of days.

Sean I understand my right knee was damaged in my motorcycle accident back late 70's moved the knee cap halfway up my thigh Dr.s moved it back the quad was ruptured beyond repair darn thing atrophied re ruptured 8 years later but the other muscles could not compensate as they had atrophied by then months and months a physical therapy with shock and bicycle more shock .. when they repaired the acl on my left 35 years later he said that surgery kills the quad my physical therapy was to rebuild both I understand have known the pain
Exactly, Penny...it's hard to explain what's going on unless you have had the same injury. After 9 years of healing it only took 5 months for the muscles to atrophy enough to cause the issue I'm faced with now.
Actually the muscles in my right leg had just started to build up again, when I fell the 1st time. And the second break just accelerated the atrophy. The doc said I probably might not be able to walk again after the lower leg break and if I did, I'd walk with a limp. Proved him wrong on both counts. Took 1 1/2 years but I did it. Some days it's ok, some days it's all I can do to bare the pain. I've been through worse, so I'll make it through this too!

Yep, absolutely right! He definently has some plan for us, I wish I could know what it is , though....I shouldn't be here but I am, so there's some reason for not calling me home.

I shouldn't be here either but, I am. Spent a month in the hospital - some of it in ITU Doctor told me if I didn't have a good heart & lungs - never would have made it, had hearing loss too but, he felt it would come back.

DID see a white light but ,it was from being semi conscious / saw flashes of lightning too (part of the same)but was aware of my body going very cold. I felt very much at ease and just went with it. Next morning I woke up and the nurse told me she had spent all night with me.

Hospital was filled to the brim- so they had to move me to burn unit. The screams and suffering of the lady in the next bed - made me feel very guilty for being alive.

When I had my brush with death, everything just went black...like how old TV sets picture tube would shrink down to a single point then just go blank screen. :lau no white light, no relatives but I did have an out of body experince that was confirmed 2 days later and added to the medical records.
All I felt was the defibrillator, felt like some one hit me in the chest with a baseball bat. Then feeling, for lack of a better word, my essence rushing back into my body and the consciousness of being alive, again.
