I have a nephew that's a truck stop cook somewhere around there and he says Willie comes in quite regular.

Wonder if he would have been just as popular and long lasting - as later Willie. Later Willie has more authority to his voice - like he actually lived through what he sang about.

Yea he grew into the part for sure. I liked him in his Red Headed Stranger days.

His home town is actually Abbott, Texas but few people know where that is....so Hillsboro is mentioned the most.
