Love me some beef stew. Made it a couple of weeks ago, but it sure didn't taste like Mom's.

In order to get stew that tastes like the old days, I have to go to the butcher shop that sells locally raised beef. The stuff that is sold in the stores does not taste the same-- they do something odd to it now

That's the same problem I have - the meat in the stores is crap. Brisket costs a fortune and the slices would only be an inch high . Eye of round is somewhat less, stew I gave up on.

I end up getting excited about the $1.64 large hot dog & large pop at Sam's club. And boy howdy am I sick of eating the hot dog.

Coffee is on the stove.
I had a bit of breakfast in the village this morning so no food made.
Above freezing overnight but very gray and cloudy here atm, about 13 degrees centigrade.
