I've never seen this breed before. Apparently he has breeding pairs free ranging.

They are supposed to be resistant to Mereks disease.

Sounds like a bargain! I skinned a coon once, it is a lot of work. Danged mice chewed the pelt.

It’s a normal price around here. The local tannery sales theirs for $50 so naturally I under bid them. Mice are the bane of tanning!

Lots of interesting porcupine stories. I've never had an animal mess with one but I do have a photo of a young one that was in the golf course parking lot a couple years ago. You can see how small he is standing close to that drinking straw.

Shad, are you going to get some Fayoumis? I know there are members here on BYC that raise them but I've never had any.

No, I'm not going to be keeping any. They don't mix well with the other species I have here and I would spend the rest of my life climbing trees to get them in coops at night.
They do look good though. This man has 12 pairs. I couldn't get close because of bio security but I did get a good look at them through binoculars.
This man has one of those traditional Catalan houses with a second floor open balcony. Some of the fowl roost and nest there. He's a single man and has only converted two rooms in the house to 'modern' standards, ie the floors aren't dirt and the walls are rendered and painted. He sleeps on the balcony with the chickens.during the warmer months along with his dogs.
