BYC Café

Evening cafe!
As for warm, you should come visit, 113 for our daytime high and 90s for the overnight lows.

IM, I would simply melt into a gelatinous, complaining pile of goo if I had to endure those temps.

I had Jury Duty today!

I hope I do not get picked for the Jury. This is a big bad case and will go for 15 days over three weeks. That is long for a trial here.

There are so many clever ways of getting oneself booted out of jury selection!
Due to unplanned but fortuitously timed moves, I kept jumping the Broome/Tioga county lines. I would receive a forwarded piece of mail requesting service for Tioga County jury duty right after moving into Broome County. Then it happened again after moving back over the line to Tioga for Broome county jury duty service.
A friend of mine was asked during jury selection if she could judge the defendant based on his actions and not the actions of the friends he was with. She replied, "No. I taught my son that he is responsible for his actions and for those he is in the company of. If they are doing something he knows is wrong, he shouldn't be with them." The old lady sitting next to her chimed in with "I agree with her!". Both of them were thanked for their time and excused.

I feel terrible for my chickens Dobie! I wish I could put a/c in the coop.
How's Fuji?

Do you put out an ice block for them in a pan to melt so they can drink and wade in it? I am doing this and they seem to like it but they aren't battling your temps. I am also going to put a floor fan in the run suspended so that they can't get at it but so it blows down on them.
Thanks for remembering about Fuji! She has to go on Sotalol for the fast heart beat and arrhythmias. The results of her Holter indicate she is having them quite frequently. But she's so tiny, we have to find a compounding pharmacy to formulate the dose for her. She only needs 10 mg a day. The standard dosages you can readily buy are 80 and 120 mg.
After she's been on the Sotalol for 2 weeks, she has to get another Holter monitor done. I'm going to try to talk my vet into letting me put it on. I know I can do that. I'm in for over a grand in vet bills so every penny I can save will help. Especially if I'm going to be out of a job in a couple of months.

I am not up to that point yet!

300 us us were called in for an 18 panel jury-- 12 jurors and 6 alternates.

About 80 were released for hardship and not being able to speak English well enough for a trial.

Hey, Meg, I meant to comment on your pictures. I LOVE your property and your flock! I'm jealous of your fruit trees. I had one lousy pear tree that was on this property when we bought it. We didn't eat the pears but would carve them up for the chickens and give them slices. The tree died about 3 weeks ago. Poof. Just like that. Now I have another tree I have to cut down.

Sour, you go to field trials rather regularly in Wilkes-Barre. That is where I take DH for his neurology appointments and for the clinical trials. It's in Plains but that's right next door to Wilkes-Barre. We are going down this Friday for evaluation for that trial I so wanted him on, the COR388. I'm pretty sure he'll get on it and I hope it helps him.
