That is a good one!

Most of the coffee beans that were roasted whole beans at the time were burnt. I also save a lot of money and have better coffee this way.

I do have a suspicion that you know that though

I used to roast coffee beans and grind my own. I used to be able to buy a Columbian bean that I liked a lot.
Here in Catalonia I'm pleased to say most of the coffee, even the vacuum packed stuff is decent. I have recently seen instant coffee for sale in some of the supermarkets. It's not a good sign.
I buy Lavazza Expresso beans here. I like it and it's reasonable quality.
I have an Italian style coffee pot for the making of it. Not quite as good as a full on peculator but okay.

Today was quite a different picture temperature-wise...high of 86, it's 54* now and raining. Tomorrow is anyone's guess



No, don't do it! I lived with my brother & his wife on a 46' sailboat for 3 months in 2010. Saw some great sights (the Bahamas, crossed the Florida Straits and sailed the Intercoastal Waterway all the way from south FL to New Jersey). BUT, that trip took way too much diplomacy on my part

I made espresso with the freshly roasted beans. I do the the citrus and chocolate taste in it.

It is very good!

I have had sourdough starter for that long too

Lol, let's just say the last time I stepped off the boat we were in New Jersey and I got off screaming at my bro eff you. Not very diplomatic at all, never happened before or since, but that's what happens when 3 adults (especially when they are family) are in close quarters way too long.

sourdough starter can live for that long???

Yes! You use it and then replenish it. I also have dried starts that I give out so there are a lot of people that have this starter now.
