BYC Café

Whoah, steady. You know what people who talk about genetics say. He must be aggressive really, it's just you haven't noticed.:p
I know, I know. I should go out there with a welder's mask on, steel toe boots and Carharts but I risked life and limb to record that little clip and take those photos wearing rubber coop shoes, cut off shorts and a tee-shirt. I'm lucky to have escaped with my eyes still in my sockets and no blood jetting from my severed jugular. Whew!

@Shadrach , I had something similar happen to me when I was riding, saddle-less, my little Appaloosa mare up the road. In my case, it was a bicyclist that passed by far too close. They came up so fast and quiet that my horse jumped right out from under me and I landed on my feet with one rein in my hand! The guy felt terrible about it and gave me a leg up to get back on. I didn't have to resort to standing on his helmet!
I was stressed.
3 Catalan donkeys and one Spanish donkey who is quite difficult to handle at the best of times can do that. Most weeks we get a trail biker or quad rider who doesn't really know the area blasting along theses tracks with no regard to the obvious fact that they are surrounded by farms. The track that leads up the mountain goes through the property here. I put gates up a long time ago but I rarely shut them. Walkers and most horse riders are welcome here, so are many of the people on bikes, with or without motors. I ask the horse riders to dismount and lead their horses past the sheep field and Muscovy bank because the sheep and ducks panic. With the Muscovy females that usually means flight and I have to go and find them. With the sheep it can mean broken legs. I've seen them tumble down the banks trying to get away. Many of the bike riders either go by very carefully or get off and push. It's only a 50 meter stretch that is critical.
Then there are the other type.

:love Oooh! How cool! Now that I could not witness with a broody hatch.

No, I've had a broody hatch and it's different for sure. I rather prefer them but I need some pullets not related to this roo for breeding the next crew. Ain't he handsome?

I should also add that there are very few things that make me really angry. Frightened or mistreated animals is one of them. Unfortunately I have one of those rocket tempers and even at my ripe old age, I'll still have a scrap. I've been like it all my life and I've never managed to overcome it. It's the main reason I don't drink. If I drink I fight and any fool knows drunk people don't fight very well.

Yes he is! But you know which guy is my favorite :D

Yea, he's my favorite too :highfive:About the size of those little cornish game hens you can get in the grocery store :lau
He's still out there. I have 2 Dorking/Red Ranger eggs in my incubator. If they're pullets and I put him with them I might get an edible sized bird from the match.

You should dye your hair red like I do. It's a nice warning label. If people choose to ignore it, that's not YOUR fault.
