For me, it's a pain in the butt!

There are 2 stores to shop at, both require a 12 mile round trip. Neither store has all I need to get, so usually have to go to both of them. Even then, I can always bet something on my list won't be available (yesterday it was bacon & paper towels). Then there's the whole load it into my car and unload it at home aspect. The unloading is the hard part, my cats are glad to see me and insist in standing smack in the doorway where I'm sure to trip over them.

There's also the cost but that's sort of my fault. Since I hate going, I stock up on stuff. DH can't figure out why groceries are so expensive, but he never wonders why we always have food available

That makes total sense then!! Sounds like a major inconvenience!! We have two grocery stores literally right down the street as well as a dollar store and another kinda discounty/overstock type store that has all kinds of stuff including food. They have good organic stuff too. I sometimes buy snacks or pantry stuff there since it’s much cheaper and usually better.

Anyway, guess I’m spoiled having so many close stores. :lau but we do also have a Walmart, BJs, Market Basket, and Target all like 10-15 minutes away so I go there a lot too. The Target is actually more like 5 cause it’s in the mall which is a bit closer plus I sometimes speed. :lau :hide

Anyway, Market Basket is actually my favorite because they are very reasonable but yet it is quality stuff, not junk. Like for example, their veggies are always amazing and they have them displayed so nicely too yet it’s really cheap whereas the closer ones sometimes have kinda crappy produce and not that cheap.

And their other stuff isn’t that great either. They’re not crazy priced like say Whole Foods or something but they’re just not very cheap anymore. Unless you get stuff on sale which I usually try to do. But still.

So I like Market Basket. And you can often have a full cart or at least tons of stuff for like under $100 or barely over whereas at the other stores you’d be spending like double probably. Just regular prices too not even on sale.

They also have amazing hot dinners for like $5.99. I love getting the meatloaf one with mashed potatoes and mashed squash :love they also have a half chicken one. And they give you tons of food too. You could probably feed two people with one of them but we’re usually hungry :lau :hide

ANYWAY, sorry, I’m rambling now.

But despite how amazing Market Basket is, it is also further away so you gotta spend the gas to get there and also usually we’re all quite lazy and don’t feel like driving that far. :lau

But it’s well worth it when you do.

That said, I also discovered recently that one of the nearby grocery stores has amazing subs for super cheap too and they have other dinners/foods too. They have a whole food court type thing and hot bar, wing bar, pizza, sushi, stir fry, etc. so I’ve been going there for lunch a lot lately. But I’ve been trying to cut back and eat at home more. It adds up and plus I don’t need the bread (I am picky and usually only get subs :lau :hide ) but it is convenient. And the other one has amazing muffins so I love getting those too. Sometimes I shoot over there late at night just for a muffin. :lau :hide

Anyway, sorry for rambling haha

Loading and unloading is definitely a pain but I’m lazy so I usually try to make it all on one trip so it’s not too bad :lau :hide

Sometimes I don’t succeed and have to put some of it down and come back for it but usually I do. :lau

But I actually like love it. But I usually don’t buy a ton. Sure it’d be different if I was buying for the entire family. But I love going and shopping for myself and buying healthy vegetables or meats or whatever and getting the sales and stuff. It’s fun. :D

But I haven’t been in a while and haven’t been cooking. :lau :hide

I detest grocery shopping and shopping in general because I have to be very careful about what I buy. If I had more money I expect I would spend less time shopping and buy most of what I wanted from local suppliers. The local produce is more expensive than the produced sourced by the supermarkets.
On the positive side, not having much money means I tend to buy very little pre prepared food and this must be good for my health. So, no crisps, donuts, cakes, etc.
It also means I have to cook more and I'm not keen on that either.
If I had more money I might enjoy the shopping more but going on past experiences I would probably waste money buying crap.
Can't win really.

I totally know what you mean about buying crap and also not liking cooking. I used to buy a lot of crap and still sometimes do. It’s a struggle to be good. Especially when they constantly have sales on the junk and/or have it right on the end caps or in the middle of the aisles! :barnie

And I hate cooking too. Sort of. Idk. I actually like it once I do it, I find it fun and rewarding knowing I created it, but I’m a bit lazy and it’s a lot of work. :lau :hide

Especially the clean up part.

And exhausting.

But I’ve been trying to more lately.

Sort of.

I go from cooking a ton and being good to not cooking at all and eating like total crap. :hide

Currently it’s the latter. :hide

I’ve been growing my own vegetables though so that’s good but a lot of them have gone bad because no one eats them. :lau :hide

ANYWAY.

Sorry everyone for the huge novel/wall of text. :lau:oops: I really need to work on that.

No bacon?? :thDarn cats! My dogs are the same way :p Got about 8". Has stopped for now but supposed to start again...

Ugh! The reports still show us getting the storm around 6pm. But if you want to keep it all to yourself Meg, that's fine with me!
