BYC Café

Well... maybe I need to drop back on Ben's pain meds. I was warned it may cause him to be "zombie-like". He his pain free but when he walks he is dragging his toes, particularly his front left. I'll cut out his mid-day dose and drop the night dose to half.

Keep a close eye on things. Hopefully the nerve impingement is not increasing. Knuckling under of toes can be indicative of increasing problems. Seriously hoping this is not the case. :fl

I think I'd call the vet and tell him/her about this.

Keep us posted on how he's doing Dobie!
Right now he's a happy doofus!
I think he's playing on my sympathies too. He jumped up in the bed and curled up behind my knees this morning. He knows that's a big 'no no' but I let him stay there for about 10 minutes before I got up.

I will.
Right now I've got DH at his appointment to see the surgeon about his hernia.

Guys morning, Café.
Thanks for the coffee.
Ben (and I) slept through the night. He did not cry out even once. I can only hope that his single course of anti-inflammatory and pain killers and his new restrictions will keep him from having any further issues.
I'm not sure a dog chiropractor would help him as the vet thinks the damage in his spine is degenerative due to old age.
That is good news!

Yes honey, it does :hugs
I had a headache all week but this morning It's finally gone. I hope you feel better. Water, drink a lot!

Thanks! I think mine could have also been sleep, diet, or caffeine related or maybe a combo of all 4. It was pretty bad this morning and I almost took some Excedrin but I decided to wait a bit and also have a glass of tea & eat and that all seemed to help. It still hurts a little bit but way less. I had some caffeine yesterday and hadn’t yet today until then so that seemed to help. And I’ve been getting up super early yesterday and today. So I’m sure it’s a combination.

So it turns out DH has not one but TWO hernias. Ironically, the one on the left side that is not actually bulging out caused him more pain when the doctor palpated the area. So his surgery is scheduled for 5.5 weeks from now.
The doctor said he would have no lifting restrictions 2 weeks after surgery. Still makes me nervous.
@sourland, were your hernia repairs done with laparoscopy using mesh?

Will they take care of both hernias at the same time Dobie?

I hope the surgery and repair goes well for Him!

Yes. That is why we opted for it being done via laparoscopy. If it was done with an incision, he'd have to cut open both sides.
I had my hysterectomy done via laparoscopy and walked a slow mile on my treadmill the next day. Easy peasy.
