Good morning Cafe

Thanks for the coffee, Shad...I'll take a cup while waiting for mine to finish brewing.
Cool here this morning 51°F.

What exactly is a Christmas nut roast?

Everyone make it a great day! :celebrate
A Christmas nut roast is a nut roast I make at Christmas.

My solstice food will be;
A bit of chicken with cranberry sauce,
A slice of my special nut roast,
Cauliflower cheese,
Brussels sprouts (assuming the green grocer has saved me some).
Roast potatoes,
Fresh asparagus in a butter and lemon source.

I've been looking for a proper Christmas pudding but no luck yet.
I do have a rather nice marzipan stollen cake.

Good morning, Cafe. Thanks for the coffee, Shad. I love the chair. I'll have to try using your wood preservation technique the next time I find an older piece to restore.

It's 9F this morning again. And the sliding deck door is frozen shut again.
DH has a haircut today then we spend the rest of the day cleaning the house. His son and his family will be visiting tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing them. DHs grand-daughters are in love with the chickens the flock has changed dramatically since their last visit so I will need to be here for them to visit the birds.

Enjoy the Solstice Shad. We're going out because we have a house full of kids. Your dinner sounds delicious though.

I'm assuming you're using walnuts in the nut loaf. Do you grow others there to add to it? I only know about them because I love nuts myself and eat them in place of meat fairly often for breakfast and lunch. I've wanted to try one but I'm the only person here who isn't allergic or likes them.

Shad, I'd never heard of a nut roast but got this from the every-knowing Wiki:
"A nut roast or roasted nut loaf is a rich and savoury vegetarian dish consisting of nuts, grains, vegetable oils, broth or butter, and seasonings formed into a firm loaf shape or long casserole dish before roasting and often eaten as an alternative to a traditional British style roast dinner."

Is that what you are having?
