BYC Café

I have ‘food’ allergies & ‘food’ sensitivities to ‘food’ that is not really food. Any sort of food that’s been modified, fake sweeteners, fillers, etc... give me reactions. A little bit is mild like itchy eyes, throat, ears. If I get too much in my system I breakout with horrible hives & eczema on my face. I can eat anything that is ‘clean’ as in real, spoilable food. But canned, boxed stuff has got too much other stuff in it. I have to make almost everything from scratch. Even table salt has stuff like iodine, dextrose, maltodextrin in it. I have to be careful to only eat sea or Himalayan salt that you grind & doesn’t need anti-caking additives.

I also have allergies to the additives (cough-formaldehyde-cough) that they put in some soaps, cosmetics, cleaning products. My reaction to those is bad, like burns.
I can't use perfumed soaps but I'm fortunate in not having any food allergies that I know of.
Still, while cooking fresh may be a bit of a pain, it's a lot healthier. The amount of sugar I've stuffed down my greedy burp this week is staggering.

I adopted a bearded dragon in need on your birthday Cap :D

I've been watching Notch and Tribe 3 since the death of Gedit.
Notch isn't showing any signs of missing Gedit. In fact, Tribe 3 is looking very tight atm.
If anyone has changed their behaviour it's Donk who strays a lot. She's been staying very close to Notch.
Tribe 3 has had some major changes this last month. Knocks 2 cockerels are in the fridge.
I would have left a brother and sister arrangement alone, but two same clutch brothers has never worked out here. They have always fought and one gets driven out of the tribe.
The fights can be pretty serious. I just don't have the coop space.
That's 3 very noticeable tribe members gone leaving Notch, Myth, Donk and Knock, who is currently sitting on 6 eggs in the tribe coop.
I've got to come to a decision about Knock and Bracket from Tribe 2 who is also sitting.
Both have their egg production shut down now. I'm not keen on Bracket sitting on her own; she forgets she's got chicks and wanders off.View attachment 1989353

Its interesting. Here the birds usually don't mourn the loss of a flockmate, at least not outwardly. Over the years there has been about 3-4x that we've lost a bird & another flockmate has taken it hard. Acting lost, repeatedly going back to the spot the bird passed, seeming all over low for a few days. When our lonely only lost his mom it was the most tragic thing I'd ever seen in my bird adventures. He not only lost her, but was suddenly mud to all the other mean girls who had previously been accepting of him since hatch. It was a tough couple weeks, but he is now the king of the flock & his girls adore him.

My allergies to fake food & chemicals is only about 5-6yrs old. The doctors say you can be exposed to these things forever with no problem, but then one day your body just says "Nope. No more." & that's that.

It's true, allergies build up over time. The way I had it explained was like a cup under a drippy faucet, eventually all this little drips cause the cup to overflow.

I never had any allergies until late in my 20's.
