BYC Café

Bella and I had an extraordinary day.
We went to Petco this morning for her microchip. After registering we wandered around the store to wait our turn. We stopped to talk with a customer when suddenly a dog that was seeing the vet for shots started crying very loudly. Bella started yipping back to this dog and dragged me in it's direction. She clearly meant to save this dog in distress!
Later in the day, very near dusk again, I took her and Skittles to the fields for a short run. Again there was a couple with unknown dogs. This time, she did not lock up. I did a few recalls on the leash before releasing her. She did the rest of the run off leash without trying to run back to the car and she never locked up. I did a pretty far off recall with her, about 100 ft, and she immediately came to me. I made a big huge fuss over her and she was so proud of herself that she started excitedly barking and began running around playing with Skittles. She RAN! OUTSIDE! And PLAYED!! She was so happy! :love You couldn't blow torch the smile of my face as I watched them!
That's wonderful DL.:)

Good morning Cafe.
Coffee is one the stove.
Applying for the cold club again this morning. One inch thick ice in the plastic water container by the duck houses; clay water pot unfrozen. Open clay bowl by Tribe 3's coop half inch frozen, clay water pot by Tribe 2's coop unfrozen.
Still a bit chilly here at 10am. Sun is shining though.:)

Good morning, Cafe. Thanks for the coffee, Shad. I'll have two cups. One from the pot on each stove!!
Most of the Texans have left NY and we are down to 30F this morning. Expecting a high in the mid-40s. Still unseasonably warm but at least not that extreme. But I did thoroughly enjoy the little mid-winter respite.

I thought of that. We've come to an agreement though...Igor will kill, I'll pluck. I just needed to do it at least once. Personal goal.
I sold all my husband's meat chickens we hatched :lau so now I'm starting over again. Eggs should hatch on the 26th and I have no clue what breeds they are. I'll be putting some of the pullets in with Squatch so it's new ladies for him.

We have 1 jersey giant Delaware mix left and it's definitely a cockerel. He's so sweet though... I might have to keep him :lau he follows me everywhere and rubs on me like a cat. I'm such a sucker!

I'll be butchering the new ones when it's warmer out which is nice. I can't handle cold weather. It was 75 here yesterday and I was in shorts

This made me tear up! Rescue dogs are so special and it's always amazing when they start to do things they never did before... Best part is YOU did that! :clapYou've changed this dogs life completely and now you're her whole world! She's never been this free!

I'm thinking about rescuing a lab tested beagle... Not now but when we move next year. I'm a sucker for beagles. I have one laying next to me right now snoring and covered up in her plush blanket :D

Are you doing them yourself? If so, I'll suggest you do them in stages if you've never done it before. There's a learning curve and it gets old quick. We'll be hatching in smaller batches now that we have our breeding stock.
