Can you do some maintenance on that little prefab and whip it into shape Valerie? I'm seriously considering one as a jail in case one of these boys gets crazy.I know. I recommend it all the time, because of my own experience. I know that 12 will be my basic flock size from here on out, but there is always a little fluctuation. I think 8x10 will finally be the solution. And I'll keep 3 of the other coops. One sadly was a prefab I bought in a pinch for a sick bay. After two years it is falling apart, but glad I have it because it does still work and that is one of the cockerel homes at the moment. I wish I had come in here before I had chickens and learned a few things.
6 cups of water a day? I certainly hope Dr Pepper counts as water!Funny about the butter!
Most of the food we eat has some water in it so water content in food was counted in the original recommendation to get 6 cups a day of water. We need to drink something less than 6 cups because of the water content in food.
About salted butter, I do not pay any attention to it. If a recipe calls for un salted butter I cut the salt in the recipe a bit.
That looks so nice!! And a window....I MUST have a window....I want my chickens to see out and get natural light. Very nice job!We weren't handy either and we made a pallet coop. We needed a tall one because my boy Squatch is very special to me and requires space since he's such a large bird.
I still need to stain it, I haven't decided what color stain I'm going to do yet. I was thinking mahogany. We are building one similar but half the height for the ducks.
These pallets are special ones and have basically no space between the slats

I hope it wasn't me who offended you FortCluckThank you!
I've been watching Craigslist Hartford and surrounding....though I have no idea how I would move it. I'm moving from a home with a double garage and lots of attic space into a home with no garage....no attic and no basement. That being the case I'd really like to buy a big shed and divide it. I have tons of dog crates, expens, garden tools, etc....and will have nowhere to put them. So that seems like a pretty good solution but will be costly. The coops are the biggest challenge to me too. DH builds them, but 4 years into this chicken journey and now I have 4 coops...for only 12 chickens...and all are being used. In March we are finally building one big 8x10 coop. Why didn't we do that to begin with?Is there any way you could get a shed and repurpose it? You might find one on Craigslist or a local trader mag.
I believe!!! I really do....Building bigger is often suggested on the welcome thread. Sadly, many do not believe the advice!
It does!6 cups of water a day? I certainly hope Dr Pepper counts as water!![]()
It was me and thanks! I think it is easier to just have one kind and we don't use much salt anyway, probably wouldn't even notice the difference in a recipe if we used unsalted and left out the salt.
Oh, so you buy the Peanut butter and Jelly that come in the same jar too?I always figured that was a solution looking for a problem.
Good, I'm a big fan of Dr Pepper.........And chickensIt does!
Coffee and tea too. Pretty much any thing with water in it
