I blame a lack of investment in the education system when it comes to sciences and math.

That might be true in Spain, but it's only one part of what's wrong with our education system.

Honestly I am very irritated with my kids schooling. Both of them basically learn stuff that is on this test that they have to take every year once a year, it basically shows how much the school is teaching the kids. The part where I'm irritated is because all they are learning about is what is on this test so that they can pass it with flying colors, but they don't learn anything else!

I was just talking to my husband about some of the opinions that I read on here. Some are way off in left field to me.

I usually get my knowledge on chickens from actually doing it myself and not getting the information from others. It's best to see it with your own eyes.

My DH trains people on rigging and cranes, and has had to teach basic math skills to a lot of young people before they can even begin to understand the geometry that is required to appropriately operate a crane or rig a load. Sad.

I honestly can say that I can do basic math, and I know a lot that I learned from school but I probably have lost some of it along the way.

I have a lot of knowledge in science because those were the classes that I exceeded in when I was in school plus I did a lot of internships that had to do with animals. Then when I graduated high school those internships basically got me into jobs that you should go to college for, but they didn't require me to.
