We have everything here in Texas, although not much is moving right now. I'm in North Texas so winter is upon us for a few more weeks. Once things warm up the critters will start making their presence known and the fun will start. I will get a short window of sunshine later this week and I plan to jump out there and get my new raised bed and a cold frame built so that I can get started on the garden early. Every time I have tried to put things in the in March we get a last frost and I get to start over again, so this year I will beat Jack frost with the cold frame.

That’s awesome!! We are building a new coop and were originally going to put the run on our garden but now we’ve decided to put the run the other way so we still have most of our garden. Coop does take up some of the garden but still have a big area. I usually do in ground but I grow some stuff in pots. My peppers I usually put in pots because they never seem to do well in the ground for some reason. We usually can’t plant here until at least April or May but last year I planted super late. this year I’m hoping to start sooner and also actually eat the vegetables because last year I barely ate any of them.

We are putting our garden in with our ducks for pest control. It will be the first time that we try this, but the person that we get our organic hatch eggs from does this with her ducks or her disabled chickens 😁 I've been learning so much from her and we are also supposed to be getting some fruit trees from her!

That’s a great idea!! My chickens would destroy the garden. :lau I’m going to have to fence it this year because last year the chickens and animals kept eating stuff too!! The chickens rip leaves off and eat the fruit, etc. :barnie

And how exciting!! I would love fruit trees!!! We have some blueberry bushes we planted last year but I haven’t checked them. I had a grape plant I planted too but I don’t see it now. I’m hoping it’s just dormant haha

I might try raspberries this year. We have a ton of wild ones but I’ve always wanted to tame them. Maybe I’ll get the thornless variety haha

I’ve always wanted actual fruit trees though like apples or peaches. :love

OH my!! You are not alone! My attic space is under the eaves, the length of the front of the house. Barely room to crawl in there....and I just KNOW when I get to the end there will be boxes that came here with me when I moved in (1995)..... No telling what I'll find.
Many years ago when my son moved out he left piles of boxes in my garage.....stuff he wanted to keep but not so important that he bothered to move it. I kept telling him to get that stuff out and finally I said every week that these boxes are here....I'm going to drag one to the curb without looking inside!! Several boxes went to the curb before he finally came and got the rest. We think we need things and when they're gone....we never give them another thought.
Forget Worm holes, Black holes, and time travel. All we need to do to go back in time, is OPEN ONE OF THOSE BOXES!:lau

Windy, cold and raining here. The girls are enjoying the warm spot that was created by the wind break we put on the coop a few days ago. Hot Cocoa and a good book day.

Hot cocoa and a book sound perfect! I might just have to copy your plan :)

Lucy hates anything that makes any type of buzzing noise and she will eat it She doesn't care 😂 She goes bananas outside when she's trying to go to the bathroom and there's a bee buzzing around her, she won't go to the bathroom until she eats it. She also somehow has this weird beagle nose that can sniff out grubs and she will pull them right out of the ground and eat them 🤮 She even brought me one and put it on the floor in front of me, I gagged so bad. I hate those things!

We had a dog that hated buzzy things. Funny thing was, they hated him, too. There was a stairway down to a dock at the park where we sometimes walked with our dogs. One year, there was a yellow jacket nest under the stairs. Hubby, I and the rest of the dogs could go up or down the stairs without any problem, but when Cisco went down, he'd arrive at the dock with 3 yellow jackets on his back.

On the matter of grubs - we had a little mixed breed, possibly part beagle that dug grubs up, too. We didn't usually see them, but we'd see dog-nose-sized holes in the yard and know she'd been at it again. Eventually, we realized there was a seasonal pattern to the times when she'd do it; there are only certain times of year when beetle grubs are actively feeding. We joked that when we saw the holes, we ought to call the garden center and let them know. I could just picture the reader board on the sign saying, "Top says it's time to treat for grubs now!" :gig

We have a dwarf peach tree 😁 ducks actually do not ruin vegetables like chickens would. They will eat the smaller plants, but if I bought plants at Lowe's or what not that are already started, they will not bother them.

We are getting a few different fruit bushes and trees from her I already forgot what kind 😂

I know that one of them is wild grapes

Lucy loves grubs and I think it is so disgusting 😂 The ducks have been getting them as well. I think they are grubs of Japanese beetles so I would rather them eat them and kill them all than me having to deal with them killing my garden again this year.
