BYC Café

Good morning, Cafe. Thanks for the coffee, Shad.
Well, Lucy's time has come. She went down hill several weeks ago, rallied but is extremely lethargic now. She actually slept with Kerrie and the kids in the ward last night as she was too weak to get up the ramp to the roosts.
My neighbor will shoot her tonight. He was supposed to do it this morning before dawn but that ship has sailed.
I still cannot bring myself to euthanize my birds. I must figure out a way to get myself to do this. I am thinking about going with him tonight and at least witnessing it. She is a sweet little hen and I can't stand to see her suffering.
Awww DL.:hugs:hugs

Good morning, Cafe. I've put a pot of coffee on... and it appears there is ample hot water and tea available. I wouldn't know if it's the good stuff or not. :idunnoSorry.
It's a very beautiful morning. I'm still a bit somber over losing Lucy. She was in such bad shape. The neighbor kept asking me what was wrong with her and 'are you sure she won't get better?'. I just told him she has some type of reproductive disorder and, no, I am now 100% positive she will not get better. She never even left the run yesterday. Just slept under the feed trough or nearby.
I felt bad for him. He has no problems with the shooting but doesn't want to take a life if it isn't necessary. When I gently lifted her out of the ward, and she barely even moved or opened her eyes, he understood.
It was terrible just hearing the gun shot last night so I'm glad I didn't go with him.
But I am very glad that she is no longer suffering.

So sad to lose a pet. But her suffering is over. Hugs.
