BYC Café

This morning during poop board clean up, Kylie had not left the roost. I checked her crop and it was still half full. I gave her 6 mls of mineral oil and 21 mls of water and a crop massage and into the crate she went.
During the treatment Dingbat came in with Una and proceeded to nest down into the coop floor bedding in the corner cooing away to Una tying to convince her to start a nest there.
When I went back out to give Kylie her second treatment, there was a blue egg on the coop floor near where Dingbat was cooing but Una lays white eggs. So maybe he convinced someone else?
I saw Una heading into nest box number one. Then something else caught my eye:
Chickens are literally non stop amusement.
I guess the nest boxes were full and whoever laid the blue egg on the coop floor didn't think it polite to sit on Barbara's back. Missy had no problem with it.

Good morning, Cafe.
It's a very lovely morning here indeed. Nice a cool and not raining. Time to beat the gnats and get the dogs out for a run.
Have a great Sunday everyone!
Will the gnats go away soon? Here the seem to go away in late may or June when we have some days over 100F

No. They get worse as the season goes on. It's best to get out early.
I guess gnats being gone is an advantage if heat!

We have a heat advisory for next week

MaeDay caught up but that was mostly due to Kerrie's refusal to take them out of the maternity ward until they were about 2 weeks old.
If the chick hatches, could/would you isolate Eve and her brood for a couple of days to give the late hatcher a chance to catch up?
The chick didn't make it; died a few minutes ago :( But the other 4 are bonny and are enjoying the sunshine and lessons :)

Moning Cafe late last cup for me thanks.....
Locking up last night took the 5 from my hatch I am keeping to silkie ..
I emptied my little bator at least 7 eggs to silkie a week ago ...
I only got like 3 eggs from them last night, I know one hatched gave it to
my cohort in birds .. have to brave the brooder see how many are up there

thanks; much appreciated. As I said in the interview, it's an emotional rollercoaster but I love having a broody and chicks. Meet Ruthin to bring the smiles back :)
