What do you do when your broody goes broody?
I went out to lock up and found Kerrie in a nest box with all her kids piled around her, perched on the partition and in the adjacent box. I pulled her out and put her on the roost and she hopped off, puffed up, started clucking and headed back to the box! For crying out loud she's not even done with the first batch!!
That'll be something if I have to lock her in a crate to break her when she's not yet weaned these kids. I didn't see this coming...
At least she stayed where I put her and the kids.

In her new neighborhood, probably.
Is it like covenants and is part of a home owners association so that all deeds in the area have the same restrictions?

We have some of those here but no one enforces them because there is no active home owners association-- one is painting your house a certain color

Good morning Cafe. I put the coffee on and hot water for tea.

My chicks discovered they could jump on the water or feeder and hop on the wire top of the brooder to get out this morning.
lol I put a hand towel over the wire to-keep the from getting out of the brooder this morning. I may need to up the move out date. Lol but they are only 3 weeks old. I would not feel right about putting them in the coop yet. They are still small enough for a rat snake to eat them in one bite. We are going to the lake this weekend. I’m going to have to take them with us.
the back seat is barely big enough for this brooder.
I hope I can fit the rest of my stuff in the truck. Lol

How would a rat snake get in the coop?

Good morning Cafe and thanks for the coffee, Chicka.
I finally got in touch with my mother yesterday. She drives me bonkers. I called 4 times during work yesterday (and I was extraordinarily busy with constant interruptions) trying to let her know we were closing today and I needed 9 checks to take to Closing. I was so irritated when I left work I just drove straight to her house. BOTH cars there. When I asked her why she didn't answer the phone, 'oh, I've been having problems with that phone'. When I asked about her cell phone, 'oh, I didn't hear that'. :he
At any rate, I'll be taking her to the bank to get the two bank certified checks and left her with a list of 7 personal checks she needs to write.
I'm all stoked about getting to work on the house. When I did the walk through yesterday and looked closer at the things I need to do. I picked up two more wiring jobs but realized I only have the two front windows in the house to replace, not all the windows. They are really wonky and I'll have to start prying one off to see how to get the house framing squared away on those walls. I may just remove both windows that area currently separated by an exposed support stud reframe the openings with headers to a standard mulled window pair.
There is also a drop ceiling in the bath room that I neglected to notice when I looked at the house the first time. I lifted a tile and quickly realized why that was. There is no vent in the bathroom and the drywall over the shower area is damaged. That is one of wiring jobs but the main panel is right on the other side of the wall so putting in another circuit will be a piece of cake because I'll be ripping out the tub/surround (one piece - I hear a sawzall in my future) and replacing the rotted drywall with green board. I'll then do a through wall vent fan and a recessed LED ceiling light over the shower area.
I even found a great way of insulating the ceiling when I'm done to get a R-value of 33 instead of the 16 it currently is.
I get to do a remodel where someone else is paying for everything!! :wee
