I have a strong suspicion that my mom's house has no insulation in the walls and I'll be installing that in the not too distant future.

Is there any way to test it? Is there a home efficiency program in NY where they will come test?

DH leaves for a near 3 week vacation in one week!!

You can get a lot done when it is just you and the animals to consider.

The wind blew a tarp stand into the neighbors car today and dented the car. The wind is fairly strong today.

This wind snapped 80 foot trees in half....all over my area.
Several cars were crushed and some major house damage.
I was lucky these missed my house.

I have a roaster like this one that I bought on ebay 10 years ago used. I had to rebuild it a couple of years ago but it was not too hard to do. The blower motor and heater went out on it.

That's awesome Ron! But here we can't even find coffee beans at the stores any more.
We used to be able to grind them at the stores but the stores did away with them. I guess
they did not sell enough.
But I'll bet you get some awesome coffee!

Has already started here.
Only working early mornings....10 days of 90°+.

Storm hit bad here Friday night....mini tornadoes or micro-bursts or what ever.
Just got power back last evening...which means running water, ice, and fans again.
2 HUGE trees came down, luckily they fell away from the house or it could have been much worse than just a mess in the yard. A 3rd came very close and few others.
One coop window broke, wind lifted 2, props fell out and the slam shut broke one.
Again, very lucky, all but a couple tiny pieces of glass didn't come into coop.
All the shade cloths went flying, one ripped off the coop wall.

Got the shade cloths mostly fixed and the broken window removed.
Lots of ladder work, wore me out.
Hope I can get a piece of plexi to replace the old double pane.

You be careful with that tree clearing aart.

That's scary. I'm glad you didn't get any damage to structures.
Will you do the cut up and removal or hire it out?

97 Fahrenheit here mid day I'm told. Sunny all morning so just keep out of the sun. This afternoon low storm clouds rolled over the ridge and spat at the ground for a few seconds; just enough to turn the place into a sauna. I'm hoping for a proper storm tonight.
