Looks like the eye of Isaias is over @Bunnylady right now.

"In the eye of a hurricane there is quiet, for a moment . . . " Yep, Hamilton again.

That was about the time that the lights went out here, but it was far from quiet; the local amphibians were being so noisy, I could barely hear the storm (and that's saying something!)

We were in the edge of what turned out to be a fairly impressive eastern eye wall. Fair amount of mess, but no structures damaged. We lost power for about 12 hours. Internet is still out. Could have been a lot worse; the last band before the eye wall had a number of tornadic cells in it. There are a number of communities that have more than just mess to deal with.

Anyone still in the path, be careful and stay safe; Isaias still packs enough punch to be taken seriously.

Do you still have power?

No outage, but the winds are picking up. Power outage doesn't worry me because we put in a house wide generating unit after Hurricane Sandy and the major outage exactly one year prior to that. Our 500 gallon propane tank , judiciously used, will carry us for a long time.

Just cause others have it worse, doesn't mean you can't lament your own situation.
Flooding NOT fun, especially if a bunch of stuff gets soaked.

Not my tree to make decisions on, but it will be firewood. It is cut into foot rounds to dry out. It died from mistletoe and spruce beetle infestation.

Not 16"? That is much more common for firewood. 3 rows 4' high and 8' long is a standard cord.

Spruce makes lousy firewood anyway, gums up the chimney.

Thanks, aart, all is good here. Rain has stopped, sump pumps are working effectively, and cellar floor is drying. Old man shoulders are a bit sore from the squeegeeing, but this too shall pass.
