But we'll batten down the hatches, and wish you all a very happy Christmas, whatever the day throws your way :thumbsup

Good morning and Happy Christmas to everyone!! Coffee is ready.
We're still here. My house seems to be sitting on a little island in a lake. The amount of water out there is astonishing.
The river has shot right up

They haven't changed the model much.

She went up one foot in an hour.

Good morning Cafe and thanks for the coffee. I need extra strong. Stay safe on that island, Tonya. Here in west central NJ I don't think it was as bad as predicted.

In a battle of will with Miss Maggie Mae last night I think that I at least broke even. She's a bit of a hard head, but I am bigger and have years more experience in that category.

About 5 or so weeks ago I heard a strange crow coming from the coop and thought Fabio was coming down with a respiratory infection.
Nope. I have a crowing hen! :love
I've read about them but never thought in a million years I'd see one crow. It's Annie. And she does it when the bantam boys have their crow competitions in the morning. I just missed getting it on video. And she does it so infrequently that I may never. But I'm not going out to the coop on morning chores without my phone any longer.
This is Annie. Her comb is usually about 4 times that size. She hasn't come back into lay yet since her molt.

Last night it was apparent that she needed to poop so I took her outside. Her reaction was, 'Screw this. It's raining. I'm going back inside to poop on the rug." Unacceptable. Back to the middle of the lawn - repeat, repeat, repeat. This was during the Princess's watch time and I was prepared to retire to bed so was somewhat unattired (is that a word?). Even tried to get her to poop on the porch - no go. The Princess came out with an umbrella to rescue me and take over - that became a side show. Mid game I decided, ' Fine - you can poop in your crate.' Emptied toys and bed from her crate, put down papers and in goes Maggie Mae. Waited a half an hour and somewhat more appropriately attired took her out to the middle of the front lawn where she immediately peed, circled twice and pooped and took off for the front door with me yelling, "Good girl, Maggie." Do you think she got the message ? Princess does not. :lau

Been thinking of you.....no water in house or basement or coop/run?
House is dry. Coop is dry. Run is damp at the far end.

The moat is flowing like a creek. My fence is down for the count but thankfully intact.

Some of the flock was brave enough to follow me out of the run into the pen this morning. It didn't last long.
