Ah!!!! It is the old "you do it this way, we do it that way" thing!!!
In the USA (and some other places I suppose) the thousands separator is a comma not a period. So here it would be 1,780 grams.

Why isn't 1.78 kilograms there one thousand seven hundred eighty kilograms if 1.780 grams is one thousand seven hundred eighty grams?

How do you denote tenths/hundredths etc? Like 1 and 78/100 of a gram which here would be 1.78 grams? I guess it would be 178 milligrams?

1.780,00 grams
