Ah but what if it isn't likely?? Not great when a transformer blows, the don't always get those fixed ASAP. We've done the "prefill" thing too if we are expecting problems. The best (but least likely) time for that is in the spring-fall when the stupid pool still has water in it. Easy to get toilet flushing water then. Not so good now that there is solid ice in it now.

No. We just fill the tub with water for the toilet and fill jugs with water for drinking if a power outage is likely.

DW gets refrigerated medicine 4 times a year. And every time we end up with another styrofoam "cooler" about 12"x12"x18" and several freezer packs. I just hate all the waste/trash!!! I wish we could go pick it up somewhere instead.

My wife did work in the hospital. I still LOVE those little and large ice chest. I love to have a big 1 in the truck little on the 4wheeler etc. They work better than my $400 Bison. They just don't hold up as well. And the chickens will eat one left on a flat bed or 4wheeler.

Well if you hadn't sent it all down to the deep southern parts of the country (where they REALLY do not want it) you wouldn't have that problem would you? Have to think before you act

I have several large coolers ordering stuff from schwans
actually 5 of them, We have a great power company out here it actaully is supplied by Tacoma the dam that supplies the power is just 7 miles from us

I was so happy to have everyone's taxes done last week. I got a reject notice on mine. Why? "Your AGI doesn't match your 2019 return." Why? The IRS still hasn't processed it!
I filed my 2019 return on 3/22/20.
Never got my refund.
Never got my stimulus payments.
Couldn't sign up for my health insurance on the marketplace because their records stated I never filled my 2019 return.
This was in November.
I had to record an affidavit that I in fact DID file my 2019 return. I even got a letter from the IRS stating that I hosed up my APTC consolidation and they wanted that corrected. I sent the correction in immediately and never heard back.
Some yahoo has completely dropped the ball on my return. When I called the IRS when I couldn't qualify for the APTC for my health insurance, whomever I spoke with saw the record requesting correction on consolidating my APTC for the previous year so they obviously got my return. They just haven't PROCESSED the return. Now it's come back to chomp me in the backside again.
I just tried calling the IRS and got a recording that the office is currently closed. You've got to be kidding? Government workers get the stupidest days off. Maybe if you worked the way the rest of the country did, my bleeping bleepity bleeping return would be PROCESSED BY NOW!!!

I was just thinking if this would be of interest for your newspaper. They might be glad to have something not COVID related a lot of readers will be able to relate to. They even could make it some kind of series with all the readers responses...

And reading about their own slouchiness and incompetence in the newspapers, might even speed up the dozy bunch.

After all you are the one who pays their wages.

Good morning everyone! And it really is a good morning, finally knowing that @Shadrach is alright.

The weather has taken a drastic change, at almost 25°Celsius warmer than the day before the snow is thawing at an alarming rate and the sudden warmth makes for a dizzy feeling.

Just called the authorities to let me know for how long they plan to have our poultry cooped up. Devastating news: Until the end of March at least, depending on the weather and corresponding bird migration even longer.

It seems as if we might have to build more and bigger aviaries for future poultry lock downs (flock downs) to come with every bird migration.

Need another pot of coffee to set me straight.

It's 8F here. I didn't have any trouble getting home from work last night after all the snow and ice. The highway departments learned their lesson after the pre-Christmas storm and have been staying on top of things.

I suppose I could call a local news station about the abhorrent handling of my 2019 Federal return... but the IRS is blaming it on Covid-19 so it would be difficult to divorce the two subjects.
I was advised by the IRS rep I spoke with yesterday to use $0 for my 2019 AGI to get my 2020 return accepted. I have another reject notice sitting in my email reader. Throttles up, baby! GREAT advice.
I'll go back through the process again and state I never filed a 2019 return and see if my 2020 return goes through that way. They make you agree to all these affidavits that what you've submitted is true and accurate to the best of your knowledge and THEY (I hate that!) are advising me to lie at the end to get the form to go through. It is a fundamental flaw in this on-line tax filing that they twist your arm into using every year.

so what will happen to the 'free range' designation? I know it's not worth the paper it's written on, but surely they can't go on extending exemptions if that is the future.

Fortunately they do not require us to build aviaries here. If we have something suitable we must use it, but if we haven't, we are to carry on as best we can.
