BYC Café

I'm supposed to get 2 Blue Ameraucana from Meyer in early June. Of course genetics mean they could be blue, black or splash.
Supposedly they have blacks separated from the blues....but I have my doubts, we shall see.
As long as I get at least 3 females and they lay a good blue, I'll be satisfied.

You can tell the color when they hatch!

I have had two BBS breeds

Black Copper Marans and Black Ameraucana.

I did make them for about 3-4 years.
Formed masters from real leaves, then made silicone molds off the masters.
The flexible molds could be shaped using wet sand for difference configurations.
Sold them via Etsy and art shows.

That is beautiful work. If I was closer to you, I'd snag one. I just love them!

I also found my new chicken obsession helped pull me out of my depression after dad died. The little buggers really are therapeutic.

Morning and thanks for the hot coffee! Warm here this AM, about 29F to start the day off, sunny too. Well, he is going to State with a win at Regionals! His "This Year's Coach" gave him a big ole hug as this season was dedicated to a team member that didn't handle the Covid restrictions very well. Next weekend is a trip to Pueblo instead of the Pepsi Center this year, but I guess it just is what it is. The southern teams around Durango are probably very happy with the change in venue, Meeker area, not so much...
Aart, those leaves would make very nice bird baths and I am glad you get to trade for something cool!
Alright, chores are waiting not so patiently!

17°F today for a high, same tomorrow.

From the Meyer site:
"The color blue does not breed true. The chicks hatched from blue parents can be blue, black, or splash. You will receive hatchery choice colors when ordering."

Hopefully they will choose at least one Blue, they don't sell Black or Splash separately.

Yes they are. Sometimes when you are down a good sit with the chickens can help.
