BYC Café

Pine shavings, which I know take a while to break down.
I piled up 13 cubic feet of shavings and poop/feed dust in a 3' dia cage lined with feed bags, copiously sprayed with water as I layered it in. Would not heat up.
Relayered and added 10 gals of water(yes, I measured it).
Was 160°F by the next day.
Alas, I did not keep it turned and the shavings did not break down, it just filled with rootlets from a nearby tree.

Wow!

I do the turn every other day, muscle building compost workout. The pile is getting watered by Mother Nature right now. I'll do the first turning in 4-5 days and plan to water it some more then too. This will be interesting to watch.

Like watching paint dry, or grass grow, or compost compost. :gig

Is Bella suckling the corners of her blankie?
Yes. She does it all the time. Displaced nursing is somewhat common in Dobermans.
Coffee at the basset hound field trial was atrocious.
You complain about the coffee at the trials all the time. Maybe you should conduct a training session in coffee purchasing and brewing at these events.

Ms. Magella waded across the creek to see the dog these folks had with them. She made fast friends of the entire bunch.

Get a compost thermometer ;)
It's fascinating.

My GSD mix did that....had a cat once that did too.

I had a friend who’s cat would suck it’s tail. Cutest thing I ever saw, especially when she’d wake up & the tip of her tail would be all wet. 🥰
