Very interesting - it's a 'new one' on me.Fabio's spurs are self shortening.
This is them early spring.

They've gotten a little longer since then. Probably 3-3.5" if I was to measure along the curve.
Both spurs looked like the keratin sheath was starting to slough off mid shaft, more so on the right spur than the left.

This morning, I noticed that the right spur was significantly shorter.
I grabbed him and tried to set him on the table I have outside the door to the coop. His right spur got caught in my shirt and he started yelling. Not screaming in pain or anything but I could tell he didn't like the feeling so the quick must be close to the end. It's frayed so I will need to Dremel it smooth tonight.
The left spur is doing the same thing but it not as far advanced as the right.
I've never trimmed them because they don't interfere with his walking and are curved in such a way that they won't hurt the hens when he mates them. And he hasn't.
I thought this was pretty neat. I'll try to get a picture of them tonight after I clean up the right point when he's on the roost.
Ours tooThe heat wave broke last night!
OK, so I keep reading about that butter. I bought some. Sorry, I can't see all the excitement. Our Cabot butter is equivalent as far as I can tell.I'll provide the Kerry Gold Irish butter.![]()
Cabot is not made from the cream of grass fed cows. IMO, that puts Kerry gold Irish ahead.OK, so I keep reading about that butter. I bought some. Sorry, I can't see all the excitement. Our Cabot butter is equivalent as far as I can tell.
