Perhaps allowing 1 egg per bird might have been the easier solution for all of you?

I'd suggest two eggs for hen to assure at least one living chick.

You two are equally to blame for this... I ordered 6+ hatching eggs.

BUT it's primarily for educational purposes! I am going to write an article and I will be shooting video of how I manage my broodies. So, this is for the greater good of the BYC community. I'll suffer through for the benefit of others.

I let the broody brats out of the crate and they practically RAN back to the nests. I locked them in the maternity ward for the time being. I don't want them locked on just yet, but want them thinking about settling in where they need to be to set the eggs.
