I picked up two chickens at an auction house today. I didn't even quarantine them. Worse yet, they're going to be HOUSE chickens!

I think I'm going to have the same reaction to print when I finally give in and get readers. Or else freak when I read some of the fine print on things.:gig
Ha! I was thinking it was very like the first time I tried readers.
Was picking on a friend when they pulled theirs out to read the menu in a rather dim restaurant, he gave them to me and said put them on.....it was like someone turned on a bright light. Went out and got some for myself the next day.
That was long ago, now have multifocals.

I have progressives. The distance prescription is good. Mid and close aren't worth it. My near-sightedness isn't too bad. I'm not comfortable driving without them, but I usually don't wear them in the house. I don't wear them to read or on the computer because they hinder rather than help. And, yes I said something when I got them, and they checked everything, and said, nope, it's fine! Wear them for a while and your eyes will get used to them! :duc

When I read my Kindle in bed, I lie on my side and prop it up against DH's pillow. It's about 12-14" away. At that distance, I see well with my left eye, but the right one is blurry.

The optometrist told me, he was a cheery humorous but competent guy,
looked at me seriously and said "you are going to hate these for probably two weeks,
but do not give up". I was a bit horrified, and he was right they were a bitch to get used to.

Even now years later it sucks to have little to no peripheral focus and to have to 'point your nose' at what you want to see. The focal area is small, and you just have to deal with it....and one eyed seeing is what you get if you want to lay down.
